Halogen Cooking for the elderly
We’ve brought out a new cookbook.
Its been designed with elderly people in mind. Halogen Ovens are popular with elderly people who live on their own and its ideal for simple and easy to cook meals.
The recipes are simple to make and include classics like hotpot and stew. There are plenty of desserts and some good advice.
Whilst the book has been created with a view to cooking for the elderly, the recipes have universal appeal.
At the moment its only available in ebook format however we are looking at bringing out a paperback version. So if this is something you would be interested in please get in touch!
This is one of the recipes out of the book:
Tasty Corned Beef Hash
(Serves 4)
Ingredients
450g (1lbs) Old potatoes, peeled
1 Onion, peeled and chopped
1 Green pepper, de-seeded and chopped
2 tbsp Sunflower or rapeseed oil
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
340g Tinned corned beef, roughly chopped
Black pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Cook the potatoes in water in the Halogen oven for approximately 15 minutes or until tender (on full
power or HI).
2. Drain and roughly chop the potatoes and add the onion and pepper.
3. Put these ingredients into an oven dish and add the Worcestershire sauce and corned beef.
4. Cook on a low heat for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through.
5. Season and serve.
